If you operate a CDL training program in Louisiana, whether you're a CDL school, a college, a government agency, or a private carrier training your own drivers, compliance isn't just about training well. - The FMCSA ELDT and Training Provider Registry (TPR) baseline that applies to every entry-level driver and every provider, and Louisiana's Commercial Driving School rules, administered by the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) under LAC Title 55, Part III, Chapter 1, which certify the 38-hour commercial driving school, its owner, and its instructors.
- The
state commercial-driving-school layer applies to licensed, private, tuition-charging schools. Public institutions and employers running free in-house programs for their own drivers are generally treated differently and are not licensed as private commercial driving schools, but the federal
ELDT/TPR layer still
applies to everyone.
