Central Tech Modernizes 60-Year CDL Program with CDL PowerSuite
Central Tech operates one of Oklahoma's longest-running truck driver training programs, with more than 60 years of experience preparing students for careers in the trucking industry. The Class A program delivers 220 total training hours, including 60+ hours behind the wheel and an additional 300–400 miles of loaded road trips after students earn their CDL. Through CareerTech partnerships, Central Tech extends its training to 18 of Oklahoma's 29 Career Tech Centers, all of which utilize CDL PowerSuite.

Challenge
"Before CDL PowerSuite, much of our training administration relied on manual processes. We used paper files, spreadsheets, printed schedules, and handwritten BTW logs to track student progress and instructor evaluations."
As training requirements and compliance expectations evolved, Central Tech's manual systems became increasingly difficult to sustain. Staff had to cross-reference multiple systems and physical paperwork to manage compliance documentation, scheduling, and student progress, which slowed reporting and created risk of missed information.
Paper-based BTW logs slowed instructor reporting
Manual compliance tracking created audit risk
Solution
"CDL PowerSuite has significantly modernized our training operations. We now track BTW training digitally in real time, allowing instructors and administrators to quickly monitor student hours, progress, and evaluations."
Central Tech adopted CDL PowerSuite to centralize student records, digitize Behind-the-Wheel tracking, and streamline scheduling across all training locations. The transition was faster than expected, with staff and instructors adapting quickly to the intuitive platform and immediately benefiting from reduced paperwork and improved coordination.

Results
Less Paperwork, More Training
Instructors now spend significantly less time on paperwork and more time focused on student instruction. Tracking BTW hours, completing evaluations, and communicating student progress has become easier and more consistent. The digital system gives instructors immediate access to student information, improving coordination and overall training efficiency across every campus.
Audit-Ready Compliance
Documentation accuracy and accessibility have improved dramatically since adopting CDL PowerSuite. Central Tech now maintains organized, up-to-date records for BTW hours, theory completion, evaluations, and student progress in one centralized system. This has improved audit readiness, reduced compliance reporting stress, and given administrators greater confidence during compliance reviews.
